Reporting Absence

We do need to know if there is a reason your child is not in school, and we provide a number of ways for you to do this:

• You may use the Arbor Parent Portal
  
• You may phone us on 01908 555620
• Or leave us a voicemail message on 01908 555633
• You may email us at attendance@haz5d.com

If English is not your first language, you may if you prefer, leave us a voicemail in any language that you feel most confident to use. We now have systems in place that automatically translate voicemail messages into English so that our Attendance Team can make sure it is properly noted onto your child’s attendance record. If this helps you to reach out to the school, please do use this facility.

Parents and guardians can log same day absences using the Arbor Parent Portal and Arbor App. To do this, they need to access the Attendance section, select log absence and input the absence details, and submit the request. The Attendance Officer will then approve or reject the absence. Once approved, it will be visible in the Attendance tab. 

Please log each day that your child is absent, this applies to all Year groups 7-13.

Please leave a message on the answer machine before 08:00. Please note, all calls to the Academy are recorded. Notifications of absence are saved to students' Arbor files.

Please indicate the following:

• Student's name
• Tutor group
• Reason for absence
• Expected date of return
• The name of the person reporting the absence.

All attendance requests will be reviewed by our Attendance Officer and your child's attendance records will be updated. It may be deemed that their attendance is unauthorised. For any questions regarding this, please email Attendance

Planned Absences

Planned absences such as family funerals, legal hearings, interviews, medical meetings etc should be reported to the Academy via the 24-hour absence reporting line 01908 555633 or email Attendance.

Please indicate the following:

• Student's name
• Tutor group
• Dates affected
• Reason for absence
• The name of the person reporting the absence.
